Introduction
What is influenza (flu)?
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Now that we're learning to live more freely with COVID-19 more Delawareans are interacting outside the home, people are going to more public events, and fewer people are wearing masks. These things make it easier for the flu to spread.
The best way to protect yourself is to get an annual flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is safe, and all individuals 6 months and older are eligible. To find your flu vaccine, visit flu.delaware.gov.
