About COVID-19 Vaccinations

COVID-19 vaccines help our bodies develop immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19 to provide increased protection against serious illness. For more info regarding vaccinations, please visit the Delaware Vaccine page.

None of these vaccines can give you COVID-19.

  • Vaccines do not use any live virus.
  • Vaccines cannot cause infection with the virus that causes COVID-19 or other viruses.

They do not affect or interact with our DNA.

These vaccines do not enter the nucleus of the cell where our DNA (genetic material) is located, so it cannot change or influence our genes.

Assessing Vaccination Coverage in Vulnerable Communities

Zip Code 19958

Supporting Vaccination Distribution

Combining information about a community's general vulnerability to the harms of disasters — like disease outbreaks and natural events — with current COVID-19 vaccination coverage (percentage of persons vaccinated) can help support and prioritize vaccination efforts.

This map provides such an assessment, depicting CDC social vulnerability data with local vaccination coverage — dark blue regions indicate low vaccination levels in more vulnerable communities; lighter shades of blue indicate more widely vaccinated populations. The goal is to increase the number of census tracts displaying lighter blue colors representing increased vaccination coverage in all communities throughout the state.
